NEW ORDER First Congress address by Commander Matt Koehl -- 1983
Greetings, National Socialist Comrades. This first Congress of New Order has been a wonderful experience for all of us. It's been a very special experience. It's been an opportunity to meet one another in some cases, to meet new faces and new comrades. At the same time, it's been an opportunity to share this experience. with you some very important ideas. It's been an opportunity to present a fuller understanding of whom we are and what we represent.
During these sessions, the past two days, we've tried to give a clearer picture of what exactly it is that is at stake and just what it is that we're fighting for. We've tried to show you the role of National Socialism in general and of the New Order in particular. We've tried to show you how it is special and unique, how it is one of a kind, and why we call it, rightfully, the greatest cause of all.
Now, if we have succeeded in doing this, in impressing upon you the importance of what we have undertaken, and what we represent, and who we are, then we can truly say that this gathering has been a success. Our Congress here has been more than an intellectual exercise.
The things that we have discussed have involved much more than that. We are living today at a time when we are confronted with the full consequences of ideological and spiritual error.
And we see those consequences in the world about us, in the world outside, in the decadence, in the rot that has infected all of society and all of civilization, and which threatens us, our race, and the entire earth with death and extinction. We must understand this before we can understand what our role, what our place in history, what our purpose in life, and what the meaning of it all is. The white race has run out of options.
The white race has won out of all options, save one. And we represent that in National Socialism. And through the National Socialist Movement, there are no alternatives outside of this Movement. There is no force, there is no Movement, there is no idea, there is no faith, there is nothing that will represent the White man.
Only what is here in this room and what we represent, this is it. And either we succeed or our entire race is doomed.
This is what is at stake, this is what is involved. We may not be popular, and some of the things we say may not sound popular, but we serve them because they are vital and they are necessary to our survival as a people and as a race.
There is no way that we can achieve what we want to achieve in the way of racial life on this earth and all the good things we envision without the success of this Movement here represented by this symbol.
There is a tendency sometimes to look at things strictly from an opportunistic view. Will it succeed? What are its chances? Can it prevail? We can throw all of those considerations out the window, right here or now. That is not our starting point. As I indicated earlier, the starting point is our willingness, the willingness and their courage to be truthful. We must start from there. We must start with what we are and what we represent. And let the chips fall where they may.
If we are dishonest with ourselves, we're going to be dishonest with others. That won't work. This world today, this country, is suffering from a glut of lies and hypocrisy.
And the same thing will not save it now. Neither will opportunism. These things don't work. They're very limited. They're a dead -end street. They won't carry us through.
As difficult as our task is, we must start from a base founded in the absolute truth. We must not approach this as I say. can it succeed? Can we win? Is this the right method? We shouldn't look at it in terms of a method. or a means. This is a holy end that we represent, something very sacred, and we've got to be committed to that. That must become our faith, our belief, something we hold right down deep inside our heart.
Then we find the means. Then we find the strategies, the stratagems that will take us to our goal. But first of all, we must have that fundamental faith inside our hearts. We must be totally committed. We must be committed to the truth. We must be committed to integrity.
We represent a holy cause, and it demands our highest and most unconditional loyalty. Today we live in a do your own thing world a world where the individual is taught that he is sovereign, that he is free, it's illusion, it's deceitful, it's untrue what this type of world has left is an inner sense of emptiness in most people.
Those who look toward various alternatives, not only in a political sense or an ideological sense or a religious sense, but in the sense of trying to escape through one frivolous means or another.
What people are searching for, what they're seeking out, is purpose and meaning in life. They don’t see the sense of it all. What's the sense of existence? We live here on this planet, a relatively short period of time. We live a full life, 70, 80, 90 years maybe. But that's all a tiny speck of time in all of eternity.
And so where is the meaning here? Where is the purpose? Without purpose, living is not worthwhile. There must be a purpose. We in the National Socialist Movement have discovered a purpose. We've discovered the highest purpose of life. We've discovered what it is that really and truly makes life worthwhile in what can have a good effect on this Earth.
And we've already seen a demonstration just a few short decades ago on this very planet. Who are we? What are we? We are much more than just a political system. We represent something much, much more profound. And our mission here in the New Order must be seen as this. We are keepers of the sacred flame.
We are keepers of that flame. Adolf Hitler was once approached by one of his SA Chief of Staffs around 1930. This follower of Adolf Hitler said to the Leader, he said, "What should we do overall? Give us an overall instruction," and Hitler said to him, "Be a keeper of the grail. Be a keeper of the grail." Fellow National Socialists we have found the holy grail.
We have found the holy grail of truth and righteousness. We have seen what is true, what is good, what is correct, what is necessary for health and life, and we have a very sacred trust and responsibility as a result. If I were to compare our Movement to just one other, I would take the analogy of the early Christians. Now, there are many who have tried to make various analogies, including with the NSDAP within our own Movement, with various other ideological movements, such as the Communists, not that we are Communists or anything else, but they've tried to find a pattern where we could correctly see ourselves or properly see ourselves.
But I contend that the best way to view our Movement, the closest, may not be absolutely correct, but it is the closest, is that of the early Christians. Commander Rockwell already alluded to this in his book "This Time the World." Those of you who have read it will recall those pages where he described this very thing.
And whatever our criticism may be of the church, of Christian doctrine, we nevertheless must have the profoundest respect for the commitment shown by the early Christians.
The depth of their belief, their commitment to face hungry lions in an arena. Do you have that kind of commitment and faith? You should, because it's necessary. We're going to have to have every bit as much faith and more with what we are facing the greatest challenge of all time. We're facing the greatest danger, the greatest threat. There's never been a anything like this on this planet. Can you realize that? In other words, these are no ordinary times. These are unusual and unique times.
There has been nothing like this before, never, ever. And it's either or. There is no in between, there is not the room for any luxury of our failure.
We must succeed. We must. It's an imperative. There's no ifs, ands, or buts. Can we, should we, we must! That is it, or else.
We must respect what those early Christians had, which gave them the sustaining power to face all of the persecutions they endured throughout those centuries. What was it? Three, four hundred years to become established, took all of that time. Not years, not decades, but centuries, centuries. They didn’t ask well, how long will it take before we win? We've got now two years, three years, maybe five years if we're lucky if we don't do it, it's all over. Or maybe if we don't do it in the next 20 years. Usually when I hear that sort of thing, the thought occurs to me that the person uttering that is saying this is how much time he affords it there or how much time he is prepared to give to the Movement. Or this is how much time he will be around in this life. That's sort of thing. This is what it suggests to me. Perhaps I'm wrong, but I can't help but have this feeling but no, we will never see the ultimate victory of what we believe in.
If we are lucky, we may see the first glimmering, the first small signs of success and hope. We can only see those early rays, but we will never see the complete victory we can’t. When we look at all of the decadence, and it's whole history of decay, it's been very long and coming. Centuries, millennia, it will not go away overnight. It will take a long time.
What we have got to do, we have got to consider ourselves as privileged and honored that we can be a part of a Movement in its very early days, in the very early times. This is relatively early in the age of our Movement. There were earlier German Comrades, but still we're very close to them. We still know some of the living members of that Movement.
They're still around. Hans Bauer, who Comrade Ring mentioned, is still with us. He's advanced in years but he's still there he's a but he's a living link to the past and this is a relatively short period of time we are pioneers we're privileged to be this if we do our job we have a symbol a very wonderful symbol in the example of our Comrade Rudolf Hess. And I call him a Comrade, I've never met the man, I've never had any contact with him. None of us have, we can't unless we were privileged to have met him at an earlier time.
But yet at a spiritual level I sense that I know him, that I have known him. He is for us an example. Here is a man who could walk out of prison tomorrow. His captors have said as much. They've indicated, but for one thing, but for one single thing. Here's a man who, for how many years has it now? Since 1941. Thirty -three years. Thirty -three years that he has been in prison. The longest prisoner of conscience in the world, even the Soviet Union, there are no prisoners who have been held captive longer. The longest. And I'm sure that he deeply loves his wife and family. And would love once again, to see them in free circumstances. But to him, there's been something much more important. Much more important than his well -being, his personal interests, his sense of personal gratification, there's been something much more important. more important, namely his honor, his honor and his loyalty to this Cause.
Comrades you should think about that! Every single day here this man sits in prison. He could walk away were he simply to renounce his Leader. He refuses to do it. He will not do it. He could not do it. He is a symbol for us, and he will continue to be a symbol. And even as we move in, especially as we move into the future, he will be one of the great heroes. He'll be universally recognized as one of the great heroes of this Movement. But he is an example for us of correct behavior and how we should act.
But that is the power of an idea, the power of faith, the type of faith that carried the early Christians to success and victory. It didn't matter to them whether they saw success in their own lifetimes. They were doing what they felt in their hearts to be right, regardless of the consequences. And we can afford to do no other.
And whether their leader rose physically from the dead, is not so important as the fact that he was resurrected in their hearts, and they had this faith, this irresistible faith, this force, something beyond the rational, something that went into the depths of their soul, and it carried them to victory.
There is the secret, and so it is with us. Our Leader is resurrected and alive in our hearts as National Socialists.
At this time, Comrades, I ask that you rise to join me in our pledge. Repeat after me.
I pledge allegiance to Adolf Hitler, the immortal leader of our race, and to the New Order for which he stands, one great Cause, sacred and invincible, the hope and future, of all Aryan Man.
